Fruitpackers Process factory was set up in 1977 to utilise apples that would otherwise have had to be dumped, initially to make only sieved apple. In conjunction with, what was then the  Government department, DSIR (Department for Scientific & Industrial Research) Fruitpackers developed an apple pie mix for the baking industry. In 1981, the factory was expanded and started production of Frupak Apple Pie Mix. The process factory  has contract processed apricots, peaches, plums, nectarines, kiwifruit and berryfruit.
